The locals of Apani and Harpatganj of Birganj Metropolitan City Ward No. 20 staged a demonstration against Pappu Construction alleging that the road was not constructed on time. The agitated locals also burnt the effigy of Pappu Construction Director Sumit Rauniyar, suspended MP Harinarayan Rauniyar, and the head of the Town Development and Physical Infrastructure division.
Locals took control of the vehicle driven by Pappu Construction employees. Spokesperson of the District Police Office, Parsa, Deputy Superintendent of Police Om Prakash Khanal said that the police dispersed the protesters.
Ram Kishore Singh Parag, a local leader of Ward No. 20, said that they were forced to stage the protest after the contractor did not take the responsibility for the construction of the road. Pappu Construction has been awarded a contract for constructing the road from Udayapur Ghurmi to Harpatgunj Dry port and the road from Birgunj Metropolitan City-18 Sauraha to Sugauli Police Station.
