Rautahat, June 13
A man in the Chandrapur municipality of the Rautahat district in southern Nepal has resorted to an acid attack on his wife over a domestic dispute on Saturday evening.
The survivor, a resident of Chandrapur municipality-4 of the district, is undergoing treatment at the Apollo City Hospital in the city, informs DSP Lila Raj Lamichhane at the Chandranigahapur Area Police Office. The hospital says 18 percent of her body parts have been burned.
After a quarrel, the husband had left the house at around 6 pm yesterday but had returned after a few minutes and hurled acid on her, the survivor informs. The woman was quick to resist the attack as she tried to snatch the acid bottle away. During the confrontation, however, he managed to pour it on her hand and stomach.
The husband had a jewelry shop in Chandrapur and police suspect he used the acid he was at the shop for some other purposes, a preliminary investigation reveals.
Police have nabbed the suspect and launched a detailed investigation.
