Kathmandu: Police have arrested a man today on the charge of throwing his wife in the river Marsyangdi. Ram Bahadur Kami, 44, of Palungtar Municipality-7, Changli has been arrested on the charge of killing his wife and throwing her in the Marsyangdi River, said Prakash Dahal, Deputy Superintendent of Police, District Police Office, Gorkha.
Locals had informed the police after they saw Kami throwing his wife Samjhana Regmi, 24, from the suspension bridge at Gorkha and Tanahu this morning. According to Pranau Dahal, the accused Kami, who was arrested immediately after the incident, admitted that his wife had died last night and the body was dumped in the river. He said that the body was said to have been dumped in the river but nobody has been found so far. Kami was taken under control by the team from Temporary Police Post Biruwatar and Area Police Office Thanti Pokhari.
According to the police, the arrested Kami has been living with his wife Samjhana in a cave under Nayapul. They were married only six months ago. A team of police inspectors has been sent to the spot for further investigation into the incident, police said.
