The United Dalit Struggle Committee, Chitwan, staged a protest on June 30 against Education Minister Krishna Gopal Shrestha accusing him of supporting discrimination by helping to release the perpetrator in the incident of caste discrimination against journalist Rupa Sunar.
Nepal Dalit Mukti Morcha central office member Khem Darji demanded the dismissal of Minister Shrestha, who protects the discrimination. He also warned that if the government cracks down on the Dalit community, they will be forced to take up arms. Similarly, Bijay Kumar Bishwakarma, president of Nepal Oppressed Ethnic Liberation Society, Chitwan, has demanded legal action against the perpetrators of all incidents of caste discrimination.
