A clash took place when the police tried to open the highway blocked by the locals demanding an investigation into the death of Sujita Bhandari of Rapti Municipality-3 in Chitwan. Locals have been blocking the east-west highway since 3 pm on July 6. According to Chitwan Police Chief SP Om Adhikari, two Nepal Police personnel and two Armed Police Force personnel were injured in the clash. He said that even the DSPs who went to control the crowd were injured. SP Adhikari has requested not to cause grief to other civilians by closing the highway as the incident is being investigated.
Protesters, on the other hand, warned police for an impartial investigation into the incident. Police fired tear gas to disperse the crowd. Police dispersed the crowd and tried to clear the way which leads to the clash between them and the protestors.
