Bagmati, Lalitpur, Lalitpur

Flower businessmen stage a rally against the government alleging them being unable to stop the illegal and uncontrolled import of flowers and flower products. The protest was staged at the call of the Floriculture Association of Nepal and the Nursery and Flower Growers' Association.

Protesting at Man Bhawan in Lalitpur on August 4, they handed over a memorandum to Lalitpur Chief District Officer Dhundi Prasad Niraula demanding immediate action from the government. In the memorandum, they demanded to take strict action against those who illegally import flowers and flower products to Nepal, said Kumar Kasaju Shrestha, president of the association. He also expressed outrage over the government's neglect of Nepal's flower business, which has been hampered by corona. The florists are angry that the government has not been able to come up with a concrete plan for the development and promotion of indigenous floriculture and control the illegal floriculture trade imported from India and other countries.
