A four-month-old mother has been tortured by her husband for not giving birth to a son. Hastana Nepali, 26, of Gaurisalla in Bhairavi Rural Municipality-5 of Dailekh has been tortured by her husband Deepak accusing her of being a witch. Hastana has been critically injured after Deepak beat her and made her unconscious.

She is undergoing treatment at the district hospital. She said that while she was cooking on Thursday night, her husband called her a witch and beat her. "I lost consciousness after being beaten so badly," she said. They have two daughters. According to the hospital, the entire face on the left side of Hastana was burnt. According to the hospital, she has severe chest and head injuries and has difficulty speaking.

The victim's brother said that Deepak had started to torture his sister under the pretext of not giving birth to a son after he started an affair with another woman. Other members of Deepak's family have also been accused of torturing her. According to DSP Anupama Shrestha, police have registered a complaint under Murder Act by arresting Deepak.
