Family members of the deceased pregnant woman stage a sit-in at Siddhi Smriti Women's and Children's Hospital at Bhelukhel in Bhaktapur on September 3 alleging that the woman died due to medical negligence. A 30-year old pregnant woman, Rita Tamang of Changunarayan Municipality, who came for a health check-up, in the hospital died. Rita who only went to the hospital for a regular follow-up on August 31 was rushed for surgery, she gave birth to a daughter.
But her condition deteriorated, after that she was referred to Maharajgunj Teaching Hospital on September 2. She was pronounced dead by the doctors of Maharajgunj Teaching Hospital on September 3. The daughter of the deceased mother Rita is kept in the ICU of Siddhi Smriti Women's and Children's Hospital.
