A teenage girl has been raped in Birendranagar, the capital of Karnali. A 16-year-old girl was raped in the morning walk with a neighbor at around 5 in the morning on Wednesday.

According to the police, a young man hurled stones at two teenagers walking on a blacktop road on the west side of Birendranagar. To escape the attack, one of the two girls ran down the road and reached home, while the other girl who ran towards the paddy field on the east side was raped.

The teenager could not escape because of the mud in the field. The girl was raped in the field. According to the police, the friend who ran home informed the family. "The accused had fled when the parents reached there," said Kanak Shahi, a police inspector at the District Police Office, Surkhet.

The girl has sustained injuries in various parts of her body. Police said that the girl was beaten while resisting the rape. "The girl could not escape because of the mud in the paddy field. She seems to have retaliated a lot when she was raped," said Inspector Shahi. "Our main focus is on arresting those involved in the rape."

The girl told the police that she had seen the rapist once before. "As the identity of the accused has been revealed, we have started searching for possible places," he said.
