The locals picketed the ward office of Pokhara Metroplitan-12, on September 13 protesting against the decision of the ward to grant contract for the extraction of riverine materials at the bank of Khudi Khola.  They mentioned that extracting riverine materials would risk the area near the river bank and leave hundreds of people homeless due to river cutting.

The protestors submitted a combined memorandum to ward member Bishnu Prasad Tiwari signed by Ward chairperson of UML Chiranjibi Sharma, Ward President of Nepali Congress Kul Prasad Adhikari, Secretary of CPN Maoist Kamal Tilija Pun, central party member of People Socialist Party Rajan KC and Chairperson of Soil Conservation and Watershed Committee of ward-12 Shiva Bahadur Thapa demanding cancellation of tender process. The ward committee opened tender in a local newspaper on August 17 inviting bids to operate extraction of riverine materials from the area in between the confulence of Khudi River and Tallo Bridge.
