Local citizens along with 4 ward members-Ram kumar Mahato, RamKhelawan Paswan, Samana Khatun and Jita Mandal, padlocked the ward office in Dhanusha on September 15, accusing Ram Dular Mandal, the Mayor of Jhoji Kataiya in Dhanusha Dhanauji rural municipality-3, of embezzlement. They further demanded the investigation about the embezzlement.
Nepali Congress ward president Ram Narayan Yadav allege that the municipality took no initiative for the blanket distribution even when Rs.12 lakhs was already allocated for blanket distribution for the poor and vulnerable families. Locals and ward members said that despite a budget of 14 lakhs being set aside for apparatus and medicine for the eyes hospital, nothing was done. Similarly, despite receiving Rs 5 lakhs for the construction of the Durga Temple, no Durga Temple has been built in Jhoji Kataiya, and they allege that 50 bags of organic manure, 27 tanks for agricultural uses, 3/3 inch shallow tubes, and 800 kg of zinc have not been handed to the farmers.
