The share investors organized a sit-in protest in front of the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) on September 21 and presented 18 points demands to the board. They demanded an investigation against the Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) Mahaprasad Adhikari for misusing his authority to limit the growth of the share market. They mentioned that the policy of NRB created a scarcity of investing capital in the market and have increased the interest rate. The frontman of the protest, Dipendra Agrawal said that the increment in interest rate badly affected the share market.
Two years back, the investors had done a hunger strike demanding improvement and extension of the share market. The government had then formed a study committee which had submitted 58 points recommendation to the government. The protestors also urged the government to implement those recommendations.
