Women activists staged a demonstration against the demeaning statement of Dwariklal Chaudhary, Mayor of Itahari sub-metropolitan. He is accused of verbally assaulting two women in his office. According to the demonstrators, the mayor misbehaved with Sita Sherpa Rai and Sharmila Bhattarai on September 15, in his workspace, with the demeaning statement targeted to women. not available for the thematic discussion and he should apologize publicly to those demeaning and unacceptable statements to stop the chaotic situation from happening. Likewise, Yosha Guragain, a women activist said that they staged a demonstration for 2 days and even padlocked the Mayor's room but the interference of the police is happening. She claimed that the Mayor misbehaved with the women time and again and this has been criticized over again as well but there has been no change in his behaviour.
