Locals have blocked the highway after the tipper hit a vehicle at Maidhar on the East-West Highway, killing its driver. The vehicle bearing plate number Ko 2 Cha 2632 was hit by a tipper on Monday morning. The vehicle had crashed into the Kankai canal. According to the District Police Office, Jhapa, the driver was killed but his identity was not known. Police have taken the tipper (Province-03-001-Ka 0095) under control. The vehicle was traveling from west to east when the tipper hit it from behind. Police said that the vehicle was hit by the tipper coming from behind while slowing down. After the accident, the locals closed the east-west highway demanding action against the traffic police saying that the traffic police had checked at the wrong place. They have also demanded to identify the victim and call his family immediately.
