Sudurpashchim, Achham, Bannigadhi Jayagadh, Ward 5
The teachers, students and parents of Sannikot Basic School of Bannigadhi Jayagadh Rural Municipality-5, in Achham, padlocked the rural municipality office on September 29, after the municipal education division cancelled the teacher quota provided in the school through Federal Teaching Learning Program. The school had received the quota first on 2018 and was continued ever since. The chairperson of School, Mr Lal Bahadur Saud said that, cancellation of the quota had made it difficult for the school to manage required teachers for students from grade 6-8. He added that, only two teachers; one permanent and other from private source now have to look after the students from grade 6-8. The principal of the school, Harka Bahadur Satar said that, the teacher quota was cancelled due to personal biasness. The parents have stated that they will continue the protest unless the repealed quota is revived.
According to the Chief Administrative Officer of the rural municipality, the municipal education division decided to cancel the quota and merge that quota in Alaknanda Secondary School. He said that, they are preparing to discuss with the stakeholders to open the lock and resume the administrative work from the rural municipality.
