Women's rights activists and families of the victims staged a protest march demanding justice for the victims of domestic violence and other incidents. The protestors reached Dhading on foot from Nepalgunj to Singha Durbar to demand action against the perpetrators for the justice of the victimized women. In this symbolic protest, there are 11 women and three men from the victim's family and human rights activists.
Rights activists, who were on their way to Kathmandu from Galchi Dhading on their 19-day journey, said that they were on foot to create pressure on the victims for justice and action against the accused as women are being killed due to domestic violence.
According to the relatives of the victim, Nan Punni Dhobi, a 38-year-old resident of Janaki Rural Municipality-2 of Banke district was killed due to domestic violence on July 20. But police are claiming and investigating her death as a suicide case. They also demanded justice and investigation on the case of Nirmala Khatun, a 50-year-old resident of Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolis-17 who has gone missing after her abduction.
Ruby Khan, a women's rights activist, alleged that the district police was not interested in investigating the incident and taking action against the culprits.
