World Hindu Council Nepal stage a protest in Birgunj at Ghantaghar Chowk on October 21 condemning the violence against minority Hindus in Bangladesh. The demonstrators burnt the effigy of Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina demanding justice for the Bangladeshi Hindus and stern action against the guilty Muslims.
As per the council, the ethnic violence triggered in between October 13 - 15 attacked Hindus in a planned manner killing 8 people and burning more than 600 houses. The protesters marched from Adarshnagar, Alakhiya Math, Adiarwa to Ghantaghar Chowk and burnt the idol of Bangladeshi Prime Minister Hasina. Participants in the protest chanted slogans to stop the oppression of Hindus.
