2021-10-21

Madhes, Dhanusha, Janakpur

CK Raut's Janamat Party cadres publicly harassed the Chief of Drinking Water and Sewerage Office Janakpur Rajesh Kushwaha after Janakpur was inundated by rains from Monday night to Tuesday afternoon. Over the issue of the lack of a proper drainage system in Janakpur, Chief Kushwaha was forcibly taken around the city on October 21 by around 200 CK Raut's cadres carrying sticks and bamboo sticks. Kushwaha was made to walk around the city in a semi-naked state and the cadres threw cow dung on him.

Despite a large number of police mobilized, Chief Kushwaha continued to be mistreated by Raut supporters. Raut supporters also tore the t-shirt worn by Chief Kushwaha. Chief Kushwaha was taken to Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan Office by Raut supporters after walking around Janakpur for about an hour. There, police took Chief Kushwaha from the protestors and took him inside the sub-metropolitan office to safety.

The Janamat Party had submitted a memorandum to the government bodies including the Drinking Water and Sewerage Office and Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan Office a week ago demanding proper management of sewage and waste management in Janakpur city. For some time now, the Janmat Party has been protesting on issues such as corruption, irregularities, irregularities in development, and torture of service recipients in government offices.
