Workers of the Universal Leather Industry in Katahari Rural Municipality-4  Morang are holding daily sit-ins demanding wages. The leather industry was closed for three years.  The unpaid permanent employees have started agitation after the closed industry was reopened.

Mohammad Safal Mian, a worker of the industry, said that they had to agitate after the closure of the industry. He has been working in the industry for more than 20 years and is also a ward member of Dhanpalathan Rural Municipality-7. He said that he is yet to get around seven lakh rupees from the industry. Hari Charan Ram, who has been working in the industry since 2049 BS, is yet to get around Rs 7 lakh. He said that he had worked in the industry as a machine operator and started an agitation demanding remuneration. As the new management is preparing to run the industry, 37 workers including Miya and Ram are holding daily sit-ins at the gate of the industry.
