Four hundred labours of Birganj-25 Shreesia Dry Port Customs Office at Shreesia staged a demonstration demanding compensation for Birju Patel, a 35-year-old man of Birgunj-26, Aatharaha, who died while under the treatment after labour was injured while unloading "Pina" sack. The work of the dry port has stopped since October 27, morning. Patel was injured when a 50kgs sack fell in his neck. The labourers claimed that unless the wife and four children of the victim get the compensation, the demonstration will continue.
According to Dr Lal Bahadur Khatri, the administrator of the Dry port customs, the incident is resolved through meetings. According to the police, the victim's family will get 6 lakhs as compensation and the labourers will continue working shortly after.
