Teachers and staff of Rautahat, Phatuwa Bijayapur area staged a demonstration demanding salary. The staff and the teachers are agitated because they didn't get the salary that they should have gotten before Dashain. Teachers and staff who had gathered in front of the municipality on November 14, said that there was no alternative to the agitation as they could not get their salaries for five months due to the negligence of the local representatives.
Usha Kiran Shrestha, a female teacher, said that about 250 teachers and other staff of 32 schools under Phatuwa Bijaypur Nagar could not get their salaries due to the non-distribution of funds among the local representatives even after one month of the Municipal Assembly.
As part of the first phase of the demonstration, the teachers of all the schools have decided to stop teaching from November 14, and stage sit-in on the school premises from 10 am to 4 am. Pramod Gupta, acting chief administrative officer of Fatuwa Bijaypur, said that the authority to pay salaries has not come yet as the plan has not been formulated. Gupta informed that they are trying to complete the process even though the teachers and staff could not be paid on time as the entire process of the closed session of the Municipal Council has not been completed yet.
