Biplav's nationwide strike against petroleum price hike

On the call of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) led by Netra Bikram Chand aka Biplav, today on November 16, enforced nationwide protests against the recent hike in the prices of petroleum products.

The Nepal Bandh has had a partial effect on the Kathmandu Valley. Due to the bandh, public transport has been running less in the Kathmandu Valley. Police are trying to tighten security at various intersections. The number of passengers is increasing in Balaju, New Bus Park, Koteshwor, Balkhu-Chabahil and other areas and the means of transportation are running less, according to the police.

Private vehicles, on the other hand, operate in greater numbers than public transport. Police have taken under control some persons who were obstructing the operation of vehicles. According to police, five persons have been arrested from Sankhu, Maharajgunj and other areas. Similarly, people's life in Rupandehi, Dang, Banke, Palpa, Gulmi, Arghakhanchi, Nawalparasi, Kapilvastu and other districts of Lumbini has been affected due to the bandh. Long-distance and short-distance vehicles have not been able to operate due to the bandh, while markets, industries, factories and educational institutions have come to a standstill. In some parts of the city, shops are open. Eleven Biplav cadres have been arrested by Damauli for blocking the road in Tanahu.

Police have arrested 11 members of the party near Biplav who have been working on the streets since Tuesday morning to enforce Nepal Bandh. District Secretary Atom, Beas Nagar in-charge Om Pant, Labor district president Himal Khadka, Akhil Krantikari district secretary Shiva Sadashankar and others were arrested from the traffic intersection, said district in-charge of the party Purnajit Pun.

Eleven Biplav cadres have been arrested from Damauli on the charge of blocking the road in Tanahu. Police have arrested 11 members of the party near Biplav who have been working on the streets since Tuesday morning to close Nepal.
