Locals and relatives staged a protest in Biratnagaron on November 27 alleging that the police administration had delayed the investigation even two weeks after the murder incident. The protestors demanded to make the murderer of 14-year-old Nischal Rai of Hattimudha in Morang Budhiganga Rural Municipality-5 public.
Leaders and cadres of the All Nepal Trade Union Federation near the Maoist centre also participated in the protest. The CPN-Maoist Center Morang had issued a press release on November 25 demanding immediate investigation and arrest of the accused and bringing out the facts of the incident.
Rai, who went missing from a lychee orchard 500 meters south of his house on November 8, was found dead in the Singhiya river three days later. The family of the deceased has claimed that Nischal was killed due to shoe marks on his chest, broken pelvis, cracked lips and a hole in his abdomen. As Nischal's body was found in a suspicious condition, his relatives have been demanding an impartial investigation from the police.
