Rights activists staged a relay hunger strike in Kathmandu Maithghar Mandala initiated by Mahila Adhikar Manch, Banke, including rights activist Ruby Khan and relatives of the victims demanding justice for Nirmala Kurmi and Nakunni Dhobi. Earlier, 15 victims and women's rights activists, who had arrived in Kathmandu after a 20-day journey from Nepalgunj, had staged a sit-in at Maiti Ghar demanding justice for the victims.
They have demanded to make public the report submitted by the committee investigating the murder of Nirmala and Nakunni Dhobi and to investigate the incident of Nirmala Kurmi from the very beginning. Similarly, they demanded immediate departmental action against SP Shyam Krishna Adhikari and DSP Madhusudan Neupane of Banke who they claimed have protected the accused.
