ANNSFU (CPN-UML) padlocked the Manipal Teaching Hospital of Pokhara, claiming that the hospital has been charging higher fees to the student. The agitated students claimed that though the Medical Education Commission fixed the fee to be Rs. 40,00,000 inside the valley and Rs.44,00,000 for the outside of the valley, however, Manipal has been charging Rs.6,00,000 extra to the students.
According to the students, Manipal charged the fee to the students in different titles, overlooking the criteria of the fee set by the Medical Education Commission. The students claimed that they are forced to stay in a hostel and pay fees because the nursing students were not present and they have to pay Rs.1.5,00,000 extra. The students have been restricted to talk with the dean.
