Ramjanma Chaudhary, a youth from Paterwa Sugauli rural municipality-3 in Parsa started a hunger strike on December 6 noting the irregularities and weak governance in the rural municipality. He started the strike in front of the rural municipality office in Farhadwa. Chaudhary did a sit-in protest earlier from December 1 to December 5 but was bound to resort to a hunger strike after the ignorance from the administration to fulfil the demands.
The demands include the presence of staff on time at the rural municipality office, transfer of chief administrative officer Sandesh Yadav, information dissemination about the developmental activities implemented by the municipality in four years. Other demands among the 10 point demands include management of playground, modernization of agriculture, and management of ambulance in every ward.
The youth stated his commitment to continue the hunger strike until the demands are met and blamed the elected representatives for their ignorance to address. The vice-chairperson of the rural municipality Mamata Mahato showed her support in the strike and suggested the concerned address the demands and end the strike.
