Twenty-three different sub-committees associated with the Tulsipur Chamber of Commerce closed the Tulsipur market condemning the Tulsipur Fair scheduled from coming December 16 to 26. The business entrepreneurs shut down the market till 5 pm on Tuesday.
In the period when the Covid pandemic has affected business, the business entrepreneurs would be hit more by organizing fair", says Hari Kandel, the coordinator of Tulsipur Fancy Entrepreneurs Forum. He argued to stop organizing fairs saying, "The fairs serve as an entertainment tool. However, different small business holders outside the district attending the fair sell poor quality goods in the fair." He condemned the chamber of commerce for not addressing their request to stop fair despite having a discussion 15 times.
Likewise, Ghanashyam Bhusal, a plastic utensils business holder from Tulsipur said that it is not wise to organize fair in the context where a new variant of COVID is seen and indeed it's a blunder from the local government and administration who gave permission to organize the fair.
However, the organizer Tulsipur Chamber of Commerce has repeated its stance of organizing the fair on the slotted date. The Chairperson said that 90% of the preparation is already completed and they are discussing with local business holders to address their concerns. He further added, " It's the right of any organizations/institutions to organize fairs and we are organizing this fair accordingly. We have aimed to promote and prioritize the local production and the priority would be given to local business holders." He questioned, " Does organizing fair only in Tulsipur trigger COVID pandemic, in the context that huge gathering events like parties conventions and fairs are organized at different parts of the country."
