Ward chairpersons are agitated alleging that the Lal Kishwor Shah, the mayor of Janakpur sub-metropolis misbehaved and attempted to assault them on December 17 during the meeting which was called to discuss the issue regarding the cleanliness of the city.

Janakiram Sah, ward chairman of Janakiradham Sub-metropolitan Ward No. 7,  accused the mayor of calling him to his office and abusing him in spite of his repeated requests to the mayor to clean the garbage piled up in Janakpurdham town which is starting to stink. After the ward chairpersons came out of Mayor Sah's office, there was a scuffle between the city police and local representatives. They have been agitating for a long time over the issue of sanitation in Janakpurdham. They have warned not to bow down against hooliganism. Earlier, ward chairman Sudarshan Singh and ward member Pankaj Mandal of ward no. 4, were assaulted by the sanitation staff.
