Kisan Janamat Sangh, a sister wing of Janamat Party staged a sit-in at Gulariya municipality in Bardiya on December 22 demanding to distribute relief materials to flood victims. The protestors chanted slogans at the entrance of the municipality office demanding to implement the decision of the council of ministers of November 18. The government had made a decision to provide 65%, 30% and 20% in relief of the total damage respectively to flood victim farmers who own 1 to 10 Katha of land, 11 Katha to 3 Bigha land, and above 3 Bighas.
The mayor of Gulariya municipality said that they are collecting the estimate of the damage and relief would be distributed as soon as the distribution working procedures are finalized. The protesting group also submitted a memorandum to the local government, warning of further struggle if the demands were not met.
