Candidates staged a sit-in at the Tripureshwor Customs Department, Kathmandu, demanding to conduct customs agent's examination immediately. Though the customs department opened 660 customs agents through public service, on March 29, 2021, but the exam has not been conducted yet.
Applicant Bholanath Aryal informed that a sit-in was organized requesting to fix the date of the examination as the customs department tried to stop the examination by making various excuses. "We have been forced to take to the streets as we have not been able to move forward despite repeated requests to move ahead with the examination program immediately," Aryal said.
More that 9,000 candidates have filled the form for the examination for 660 vacancy. Punya Bikram Khadka, information officer of the department, said that the department has already included the examination program in its annual action plan and will conduct the examination soon. "There has been some delay in conducting the examinations due to corona in the beginning and lack of center for public service examinations in the recent past," he said. He said that the department has already started internal preparations for the examination of the customs agent and the examination will be held soon.
