Bardiya Police have arrested a man on the charge of raping a 13-year-old girl and making her pregnant. Maniram Tharu, 41, of Thakur Baba Municipality-6 of Bardiya has been arrested.

According to police, Tharu had raped the 13-year-old girl inside her house while she was alone in her house. He even threatened to kill her if she told anyone about it. Although the girl did not tell anyone that she had been raped, she went to a nearby clinic after getting a stomach ache and was found to be pregnant.

According to the police, the incident came to light after the victim gave birth to a baby girl on January 30. Police from the District Police Office, Bardiya arrested Tharu following a complaint from the victim. Police informed that further investigation is underway against the arrested Tharu.
