Police in the Dang district of Lumbini have arrested a man on multiple rape charges pretending to be a shaman.
The suspect has been identified as Gopal BK (35), a resident of Gwarkhola Khaireni, Tulsipur sub-metropolitan city-18 of the district.
According to a complaint the Tulsipur Area Police Office received, BK had gone to a woman’s house in Tulsipur-18 on February 12, saying he had magical powers and he could heal her. Cutting her hair with a trident, he had threatened the woman to go inside the house and committed the crime.
On the same day, he also raped the first survivor’s niece also.
Then, the two families had filed a complaint against him on February 17.
BK has been arrested at Dudhras, Tulsipur-19 and further investigation is underway, DSP Shyamu Aryal of the Area Police Office says.
