Police arrested Birka Bahadur Poudel a 76-year-old man of Mahalaxmi municipality-4, on June 20, on the charge of sexually assaulting a 9-year-old minor girl. The accused was a then Deputy Chief Panch of Chanuwa village panchayat during the old Panchayat period. According to the investigation, the accused sexually assaulted the victim on June 17, when she was returning from school. Police alleged that the victim was returning home along with three other friends but the accused asked three of them to bring water and sexually assaulted the victim. 

According to the police, the victim's mother lodged the complaint on June 20 right after she knew about the incident.
