Police arrested Shambhu Mandal, 30-year-old man of Lohajara in Tirhut rural municipality-5 on June 26 on the charge of raping a 35-year-old woman. The victim lodged a complaint at the Area Police Office, Kanchanpur on Feb 4, alleging that the accused raped her on January 1.

According to the police, the accused absconded after the incident. According to the locals, the accused, who returned home after five months, attempted to rape the victim again.
