Police have arrested a person on the charge of murder of his wife in Lalitpur. The arrested is identified as Ram Kumal, residing on a rented apartment in Lalitpur. According to police, Ram Kumal murdered his 28-year-old wife Basanti Kumal aka Jamuna while he was under the influence of alcohol during a domestic dispute. The victim was found dead hanging in her room on October 29. Ram told the police that Basanti had committed suicide. However, police found the incident suspicious as police found indications the victim had resisted and struggled before death they probed the incident and found that Ram had murdered the victim and framed the incident to make it look like a suicide. Doctor's forensic report also proved that the Jamuna had not committed suicide but was murdered.
According to the initial investigation, a dispute broke out between Ram and Jamuna after the former came home intoxicated by drinking alcohol with the money Jamuna had given him to buy meat. Ram hit Jamuna on the head with a padlock as the dispute escalated killing her. Police are further investigating the incident by holding the accused into custody.
