Local vendors of Biratnagar metropolitan city staged a demonstration on November 28 after the Biratnagar metropolitan restricted the vendors from business on the road and sidewalks of the metropolitan. The demonstrators picketed the office of Biratnagar metropolitan alleging that they cannot suppress street vendors.
The metropolis has started a campaign to clear the footpaths and remove the hoards built in violation of the road standard from November 25. The metropolis started the campaign from Biratnagar Main Road. The metropolis had published a 35-day notice on October 3 for market beautification, accident reduction, and footpath control. After the traders did not stop putting their goods on the pavement, the metropolis started removing them.
