Sushila Shahi Mayor of Lumkichuha municipality in Kailali has been accused of taking hostage and assaulting Khem Dhungana, a journalist working news24 on December 11. According to Federation of Nepalese Journalist Kailali, the Mayor took control of the equipment of the victim and assaulted him deleting the video footage taken as part of his reporting. FNJ further added that Dhungana was developing news of Shahi misusing the government's vehicle for personal use. FNJ demanded the local administration to investigate the incident and punish those responsible for abuse on the journalist.
