A woman has accused the police of not registering complaint of domestic violence in Mahottari. 40-year-old Lalita Devi Mahato of Bhangaha municipality-4 in Mahottari stated that police refused to register a complaint of polygamy and assault filed agaisnt her husband 42-year-old Ganesh Prasad Mahato. The victim sought the help of insec to file the compalint.
The victim stated that, the accused had subjected them to domestic violence and was living with his second wife in Kathmandu. DSP Dilip Kumar Giri of District Police Mahottari stated, that police had summoned the accused to the police before registering complaint. He also stated that Lalita Devi was seeking to file a complaint of polygamy although the incident was 14-15 years old. The accused also stated that Lalita Devi and his daughter were making false charges against him and was ready to face any punishment if found guilty.
