The district court of Panchthar has sentenced Buddha Kumar Limbu (37) of Bharapa vdc-9 and his second wife Ranju Tamang Limbu (27) to one year in prison and fined them rupees five thousand each on February 8 after finding them guilty on charge of polygamy. Police arrested and presented them before the court on February 8. The two were arrested from their home during a search operation. The first wife of Buddha, Pinki Yokpangden(27) had lodged a complaint against the two in the district police station on March 30, 2012. Buddha Kumar Limbu had married his second wife on March 25 2012. After the complaint police had arrested Limbu and his second wife Ranju. They were released on April 22, 2012 by the order of the district court after posting bail amounts of rupees thirty five thousand and fifteen thousand respectively.
