Police, demonstrators clash, 30 Injured

At least 30 people have been injured when the demonstrators protesting setting up second Land Revenue office in Simara clashed with police in Kalaiya on February 13. The government had decided to set up second office of Land Revenue attached with Land Survey office which is opposed by Chamber of Commerce and Industries. Police’s rubber bullets, teargas and baton charge injured 13 demonstrators while 15 policemen [were injured] hit by the stones hurled by the demonstrators. All of them have sustained nose, head and back injuries. Pappu Yadav and Prabhu Sah were hit in the back by rubber bullets. Both are being treated at Kalaiya Hospital. The demonstrators torched a vehicle carrying Kantipur prompting the police action. The demonstrators had torched a police beat and were vandalizing UML and NC office when the police used forced to disperse them. DSP Rabindra Regmi said that police used forced to stop the demonstrators from vandalizing property and harming the lives. L
