Madhes, Bara, Jitpur Simara

A patient and another person were injured when agitating locals hurled beer bottles and stones at an ambulance in Simara of Bara district on Sunday. The ambulance was carrying patients from Rautahat to Birgunj. Patient Binda Raya Yadav and another person were injured. The windshields of the ambulance have been damaged in the incident. Yadav has sustained injuries in his face and body after being hit by broken glass. According to the injured patient’s son Rajkumar Yadav, his father was being ferried to Birgunj for further treatment after his health deteriorated today. He is a long time patient of diabetes.

The ambulance was brought into operation just two days ago by the Nepal Human Welfare Society. “The number plate has not yet been fixed in the ambulance,” said driver Ashok Kumar Raut. “Department of Transport will provide the vehicle registration number only on Monday.” However, the siren was fixed in the ambulance, he added. Locals of Simara have been protesting against the government decision to stop the expansion of the Land Revenue Office and Land Survey Office. The situation in Simara has remained tense for the past few weeks due to the demonstrations by locals.
