At a time when the people across the country are demanding capital punishment to rapists, a 12-year-old girl has fallen prey to rape in the district on Monday. The Area Police Office Chandrapur said that Buddhi Bahadur Thieng (23) of Rangapur-5 of the district took the girl to a field near the house and raped her. According to the girl, the man had threatened to kill her if she told anyone and compelled to speak nothing against him. The infuriated girl who could not tolerate the pain for long said about the incident to her parents and filed a complaint at the Area Police Office, Chandrapur after two days of the incident. Following the complaint, police apprehended Thieng for the investigation on Wednesday. It has been learned that silence often follows rape in many countries where a rape victim is usually regarded as an ashamed woman and unfit for marriage. The victim has been sent to the Chandranigahapur Hospital for a medical test and the report is yet to come, informed DSP Netramani Giri of the Area Police Office, Chandrapur.
