Hundreds of protesters gathered around the Armed Police Force (APF) base camp at Belbichuwa in the district and pelted stones and vandalised the APF base camp premises on Monday. The situation in the area is tensed, APF's border security force office in Hajminiya informed. Meanwhile, after failing to make headway in talks with the protesters in the Capital, talks team comprising of AIG’s Ganesh Rai and KK Tamang have returned back to Rautahat. The APF personnel are holding their ground inside the base camp after protesters started pelting stones and chanting slogans. Additional security personnel have been deployed from district headquarters and Hajminiya. The protests haven’t subsided even when the government has reversed its decision to establish branches of the District Land Revenue Office and the Survey Office. The security officials are waiting the decision of the government after the demonstration has taken a turn. Another round of meeting between the protesters and government officials seems elusive after the failure of Sunday’s talks. The protesters have demanded that they will not sit for talks until the government declares Ram Aashish Thakur a martyr. Thakur was killed after a police van hit him during the demonstration. The Rautahat Chamber of Commerce and Industry-led since Wednesday have been organising demonstrations demanding reversal of the decision to establish branches of the District Land Revenue Office and the Survey Office in Chandranigahpur. Meanwhile, Student’s Struggle Committee has initiated protests in Chandranigahpur against the reversal of government’s decision. They have halted vehicular movement at the East-West highway since one hour. They have warned of stern protests if the government fails to implement its decision. सशस्त्र
