Earthquake death toll reaches 5,489 in country

The number of death caused by the April 25 earthquake and aftershocks has reached 5,489 across the country, said the Home Ministry. The National Emergency Operation Centre under the Home Ministry shared this information, adding that people injured in the tremors reached 10,965. Sindhupalchowk is the district suffering worst-1,587 were killed; while Kathmandu recorded 1,039 deaths, Nuwakot 707, Dhading 527, Gorkha 405, Kavre 275, Bhaktapur 252 and Lalitpur 168. The detailed information from different parts of the country is being received. So, the numbers of deaths and injured ones is likely to go up, added the Centre. Three Tremors this Morning alone Meanwhile, three tremors were felt this morning alone. The tremors occurred between 6:00am to 9:00am. The first (4.7 Richter) occurred at 6:22am with Dhading epicenter; second (4.7 Richter) at 8:31am with Rasuwa epicenter and the third (3.9 Richter) at 8:41am with Nuwakot epicenter, according to the National Seismological Centre.
