Quake death toll crosses 7‚000 mark

The death toll from the earthquake has exceeded 7,000. According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, 7,040 people died so far across the country. About 14,000 people were injured. The worst affected area is Sindhupalchowk. Two thousand 580 people have died in Sindhupalchowk. Similarly, 659 people have died in Nuwakot, 410 in Gorkha, 311 in Kavre, and 306 in Rasuwa. According to the National Emergency Operations Center, 52 people died in the Eastern Region, 6,369 in the Central Region, 418 in the Western Region, and 2 in the Midwestern Region. The earthquake affected about 80 lakh people. One lakh 41 thousand 233 houses of the general public were completely damaged while one lakh 49 thousand 659 houses were partially damaged. The quake damaged 10,477 government houses and buildings. 14 thousand 168 houses and buildings were partially damaged.
