A district secretariat member of UCPN-Maoist in Mugu district who had gone into hiding after raping a woman has been arrested by the police with the help of villagers. The accused identified as 36-year-old UCPN-Maoist leader Ram Jung Shahi of Dhainakot-6 had gone into hiding after raping a woman of the same place on May 06. After the raped woman informed her husband about the incident the locals demanded his arrest by the police. The accused ran away when the villagers tried to nab him the next day. On Sunday villagers summoned him saying that they would settle the case outside the court. They locked him up in his own house and handed him over to the police. Police Inspector Mitra Bahadur Acharya of DPO Mugu said that the accused would be remanded into custody for further investigation.
