Province 1, Sunsari, Dharan
A 16-year-old girl was gang-raped in a forest near BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) at Dharan in Sunsari district on Monday. A group of nine persons severely beat the victim’s ‘boyfriend’ with whom she was sitting at a park west from BPKIHS and took her under their control, the victim’s family said. After that, they took the girl to Charkoshe forest and took turns in raping her brutally. Police arrested seven persons in connection with the incident immediately after the victim’s family lodged a complaint.
The rapists had left the victim in an unconscious state in the forest following the incident. The girl had somehow managed to come to her house after a while and informed the family about the incident.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Sudam Kumar Sijapati said the main culprit behind the horrendous crime was held along with six other accomplices. The search is on to find others involved in the incident, he added.
