Police on Tuesday arrested a man from Gadi on the charge of raping an 11-year-old girl. Police arrested Subas Sahani Malaha, 26, of Gadi VDC-7, on the charge of raping the minor girl at Dhore VDC-6 on Monday night. The victim, who hails from Raxaul town of India, was visiting her maternal uncle’s house at Dhore. Inspector Nishanta Thapa of Pokhariya Area Police Office said Malaha had taken the girl to a paddy field and raped her. He had reportedly lured her by promising to take her to her mother. Inspector Thapa said Malaha will face trial on the charge of raping a minor. Both Malaha and the young girl were taken to Narayani Sub-Regional Hospital in Birgunj on Tuesday for the medical tests. Ten days earlier, a 12-year-old Dalit girl was gang-raped at Bhediyahi VDC-4 in the district.
