Bandh in West Daunne demanding undivided Nawalparasi

The western part of Nawalparasi has been shut down for the second consecutive day protesting the splitting of the district during state border demarcation. The bandh has been organized with the solidarity of different civil society and local organizations. Markets around Parasi, Bardaghat, Sunwal, and the southern part of Nawalparasi remain closed due to the bandh. Transportation services and schools however remain operational. Ramji Gyawali, Chairman of Coordination Committee of District Civil Society which has been leading the protest said that they were compelled to launch the protest after the political parties tried to deprive them of important resources including hydropower and Gandak canal by splitting the district into the name of federalism.
