Ghasikuwa VDC Secretary Ramraj Neupane has been mistreated by a group of CPN M (Biplab) cadres who rubbed him with black ink and hung a garland of shoes around his neck. The incident took place in Neupane’s home at Vyas Municipality - 2 at 7 pm on August 11. Among other things, the Maoist members accused Neupane of misusing earthquake relief funds, mismanaging various other funds given to the VDC, issuing mining permits on 40 ropanis of public land, and delayed response to various complaints of corruption within the VDC. Having been unable to find him at his office during the day due to his day off, Tanahu CPN-M Secretary Neeru Thapa stated that they were compelled to take action at Neupane’s home. An attempt to contact Secretary Neupane regarding the incident was unsuccessful.
